What's Welsh for Performance? Beth yw 'performance' yn Gymraeg?
An Oral History of Performance Art in Wales - Hanes Llafar Celfyddyd Perfformio yng Nghymru
Experimental Theatre in Wales
Theatr Arbrofol yng Nghymru
Interviewee / Cyfwelai: Richard Gough
The Aberystwyth-based Centre for Performance Research (CPR)
celebrated its thirtieth anniversary in 2005. At its roots a theatre
organisation devoted to training and the reflection of practice,
the CPR organises workshops, festivals and symposia, publishes performance
books and runs a multi-cultural performance resource centre. It
was the Centre's intercultural approach to theatre which from very
early on brought it into contact with a more expansive notion of
performance, and it has since brought international performance
artists such as Guillermo Gomez-Pena and Rachel Rosenthal to Wales.
The CPR's Artistic Director, Richard Gough, is a Professor in the
Department of Theatre, Film and Television Studies at Aberystwyth
University. He has dedicated the past thirty years to developing
and exploring interdisciplinary, experimental performance work.
He has curated numerous international performance projects and is
general editor of the journal Performance Research.
Richard Gough was in conversation about alternative approaches
to teaching, archiving and publishing performance and on the role
of internationalism for performance art in Wales.
Dathlodd y Centre for Performance Research (CPR), a leolir
yn Aberystwyth, eu pen-blwydd yn ddeg ar hugain yn 2005. Fel sefydliad
theatr sy'n ymroddi mewn hyfforddi a dulliau newydd o ystyried a
chofnodi gwaith ymarferol, mae'r CPR yn trefnu gweithdai, gwyliau
a symposia, yn cyhoeddi llyfrau ar berfformio ac yn rhedeg canolfan
adnoddau amlddiwylliannol. Yr ymdriniaeth rhyngddiwylliannol yma,
sydd wedi bod yn elfen ganolog o'u gwaith o'r cychwyn, sydd wedi
dod a'r CPR i gysylltiad â syniadaeth ehangach o berfformio,
ac maent wedi body n gyfrifol am ddenu artistiaid perfformio rhyngwladol
i Gymru, megis Guillermo Goméz-Peña ac Rachel Rosenthal.
Mae Cyfarwyddwr Artistig y CPR, Richard Gough, yn Athro yn Adran
Astudiaethau Theatr, Ffilm a Theledu, ym Mhrifysgol Aberystwyth.
Mae wedi treulio'r deng mlynedd ar hugain diwethaf yn datblygu ac
yn archwilio gweithiau perfformio arbrofol a rhyngddisgyblaethol.
Bu'n gyfrifol am guradu nifer o brosiectau perfformio rhyngwladol,
ac mae hefyd yn olygydd cyffredinol o'r cyfnodolyn Performance
Research.
Roedd Richard Gough yn sgwrsio ynglyn â dulliau amgen o ddysgu,
archifo a chyhoeddi gwaith perfformiadol, a hefyd am berthnasedd
rhyngwladoliaeth i gelfyddyd perfformio yng Nghymru.
