What's Welsh for Performance? / Beth yw 'Performance' yn Gymraeg? Commission Fund

The 'What's Welsh for Performance? / Beth yw 'Performance' yn Gymraeg?' Commission Fund supports the development of new performance work by Wales-based artists.

Commission 4: Maynard Festival (2015)

The fourth What's Welsh for Performance? commission was made in support of Maynard, an annual two-day dance and movement event curated by movement artist Simon Whitehead, held in and around his home village of Abercych, Pembrokeshire, in collaboration with Rhowan Alleyne. This year's festival was held under the theme of Family Dances (15 - 16 May 2015) and featured work by Cai Tomos, Jane Mason, Siriol Joyner, Joanna Young, Elspeth Owen, Alex Reuben, Mammalian Diving Reflex, Lone Twin and Simon Whitehead.

Maynard used the commission to support a workshop by Welsh movement artist Siriol Joyner, with Stirling Steward and Elspeth Owen. The workshop involved families and individuals across the generations participating in the making of movement and the creation of environments. Documentation to be posted soon.

Visit the festival website.

Commission 3: Tim Bromage (2013)

The third What's Welsh for Performance? commission has gone to performance artist Tim Bromage. Tim used the commission to develop writing in connection with a new performance, "If it wasn't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all", shown at Experimentica 13 - Chapter Arts Centre Cardiff, in November 2013.
