Performance in Wales archive
The What's Welsh for performance? archive is built around
two main strands:
1. a comprehensive searchable database
of performance events in Wales
2. and a series of oral
history interviews with key artists who have shaped the history
of performance art in Wales since the 1960s
Visit 40 events in 40 years for a selection
of important performance events from the archive.
The archive is a growing resource – if you have any information
on performance in Wales that could be of use to the project, please
get in touch!
Whether you are an artist who has made performance work in Wales,
or an audience member who once witnessed a performance (voluntarily
or involuntarily!), we would be pleased to hear from you.
Any material will be of interest - from actual pieces of documentation
to vague memories of events caught out of the corner of one's eye.
The intention is not to create a new physical collection, but a
'virtual' index that allows users to locate where documentary material
on performance art in Wales is currently held.

CALL: Fluxus
in Aberystwyth 1968
We are looking for Aberystwyth residents and students
of 1968 who have memories of a 3 day arts event that took place
at the Parish Hall in November of that year. It was called Miss
Rainbow Day, Brian Lane and the First Dream Machine and
was organised by the Guild of Students (including John Osborne,
Bob Marsland, Steve Mills) as part of the annual Aberystwyth Arts
Festival.
