How to use the What's Welsh for Performance database

Before entering the database, please read the following instructions carefully.

TO ENTER: Click >:launch database<

The database will open on the record for the first ever (known) performance in Wales – a happening at Barry Summer School in 1965, organised by Tom Hudson.

TO BROWSE INSIDE A RECORD

Use the navigation tabs at the top of the record

to display:
DESCRIPTION –extracts from reviews, artist's accounts, websites etc.
TRACES – an index of other available documentary materials and their locations
SOURCES – sources for the record
IMAGES

Not all records have images or descriptions available.


TO BROWSE BETWEEN RECORDS

Use the arrow buttons to move back or forward between records:

SEARCH THE DATABASE (in 3 Steps)

1. Click >1. PRESS to open search form< – an empty form will open

one

2. Type your search term or any combination of terms into any of the fields in the form

For example, to search for performances by Ivor Davies in 1968 enter 'Ivor Davies' in the artist field and '1968' in the start date field.

FOUND RECORDS

You can browse between found records by using the arrow buttons.

You can further sort the found records by pressing >sort by date< or>sort by name<

NO RECORDS FOUND

If no records have been found the database will continue to display the search form.
Use the VIEW ALL RECORDS buttons to get you back to the database.

If you are searching for a name try the 'Artist(s)' and the'Collaborator(s)' fields.


KEYWORD SEARCH

If you are searching for a keyword or concept try the 'Keyword', 'Content' or 'Description' fields.

To search DESCRIPTION, TRACES or SOURCES please enter these pages first and then run your search as described above.
